In this exciting meshing of two of Athens' most creative entities, we get a unique modernist-inspired seating area for the first American viewing of a new collection of Japanese animation produced by Dreamspan. Founded in 1999, Dreamspan is a new media production company and distribution network specializing in short entertainment. Departure Lounge is one of their site names. They have won numerous awards, among them the Best Film Site at SXSW Interactive in Austin, Texas, 2001.
The upholstered TV and seating units are by sculptor Didi Dunphy. Dunphy has exhibited her conceptual artworks nationally for over two decades, garnering glowing reviews. Her work is in numerous private and public collections. She relocated to Athens from Los Angeles just a few short years ago, but has already made an impact.
